Medical marijuana can help.

Medical marijuana can help patients suffering from certain serious medical conditions. It can alleviate pain, ease symptoms, enhance wellness, and improve quality of life. In Pennsylvania, there are 17 approved conditions that can make someone eligible to use marijuana medicinally.

Medical marijuana can take various forms. At Ilera, we offer a variety of products, including vaporizable oils, tinctures, and topical creams. Talk with an approved medical marijuana physician, or visit a dispensary for a consultation to help understand which products might be right for you.

Medical Marijuana in Pennsylvania

Pennsylvania’s medical marijuana program is designed to give patients access to safe and effective medical marijuana. The Pennsylvania Medical Marijuana Act that was signed into law in 2016 made it legal to use marijuana to treat serious medical conditions. To use marijuana legally in the state of PA, it must be in one of the following forms: pill, oil, tincture, liquid, topical form (gel, cream, or ointment), or vaporizable/nebulizable form.

Growing Evidence

Marijuana has been used medicinally for millennia around the world. While it continues to be studied in an ever-growing range of applications and conditions, it has proven to be an increasingly valid clinical option.

There is evidence that cannabis use can help in a number of ways. Easing nausea and vomiting, improving appetite, effectively treating chronic pain, relieving muscle spasms, and elevating mood are just a few of the benefits recognized thus far as research progresses into its medicinal properties.

The effects of the marijuana plant come from the presence of cannabinoids, chemical compounds naturally present in the plant that can have a variety of effects on the body and brain. There are at least 100 different cannabinoids in the marijuana plant—which interact with receptors in the brain to produce a variety of effects.

The most psychoactive cannabinoid of cannabis is tetrahydrocannabinol, commonly known as THC. The qualities and effects of THC are still being studied, as are other cannabinoids such as cannabidiol (CBD) and cannabinol (CBN).
